Hello friends!
I have extremely exciting and fun news to share with you! I am one of the three happy crafters joining the Less Is More design team from today on. The other two are
and I'm sure Izzy and Trina are as excited as I am! Less Is More is one of the greatest and most popular CAS challenges around and I can't describe to you how happy I am to join this team. I've been happy dancing several times since knowing about it! When I begun blogging I was still struggling to find my style and exactly Less Is More Challenge made me realize I'm mostly a CAS girl! And now I'm part of this dream team myself... It's hard to believe it!
Now let's take care of my new DT duties and tell you about the current challenge! :)
Our challenge this time is to use the color combo of grey and yellow. One of the LIM DT members, Anita, is having her birthday tomorrow and she has had the honor of choosing the color combo for you. Happy Birthday Anita!
My first card, above, is made with stamps by STAMPlorations (flower + hello-word) and My Favorite Things (friend-word). I used a simple straight paper mask for masking off the bottom of the flower stamp: I wanted the flowers to "grow" out of the sentiment like the sentiment was a vase or something so I wanted the bottom edge of the flowers to be very sharp. After stamping I covered the flowers by masking off the top third of the card and brushed grey ink to the bottom of the card. I then colored the sentiment and flowers with Copics and added white gel pen accents to the flowers. The friend-word is heat embossed with white powder on black card. This was originally supposed to be a one layer but let's just say stamping can be hard sometimes -even if you have the MISTI! ;)
My second card, below, is a Christmas card with a Finnish Christmas sentiment. I wanted to see if I could make this non-traditional Christmas color combo work for Christmas and I like the results! I chose very pale yellow and very dark grey card + heat embossed the sentiment with silver powder -it's kind of grey, isn't it! The star of this card is the die cut snowflake by Joy Crafts. I'm repeating myself, this is an old design from 2 years ago... But it's still pretty! :)
Now it's your turn to share your yellow & grey cards with us! The LIM designers have wonderful inspiration for you in the challenge blog HERE. Don't forget to follow our guidelines and you could win a prize from our May sponsor, Uniko Studios!
I'd like to enter my first card to STAMPlorations May CAS challenge
Congratulations! How exciting to be part of the LIM team ... an inspired choice by the team.
ReplyDeleteFabulous cards and, as always, inspiring in design and execution!
Elaine
Welcome, Nonni! I'm so happy you've joined us! Loving both your cards. The first one is so stylish and a beautiful layout with the floral cluster bordered by the sentiment. It must have taken ages to make it one layer (or it would take me ages anyway!) but it looks great! Your second one has totally stolen my heart and it's one that I'm definitely going to CASE for my Christmas cards :D I'm amazed at how perfectly the grey and yellow scheme works for this - it looks stunning! Have a brilliant weekend x
ReplyDeleteWelcome to the team, Nonni. And what lovely cards for your first week. I love the thought you put into your first card with the making and gentle blending of the soft grey. The ombre effect on the hello looks fabulous. And wowzers, who would have thought to use these colours for a Christmas card, it's so beautiful, I might be CASEing this one as well! Thanks so much for the Happy Birthday wishes xx
ReplyDeleteTwo stunning cards, Nonni. Congrats on joining the LIM team!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on joining the team at Less is More. Two stunning cards, love them both.
ReplyDeleteBig congrats on joining the team Nonni! And way to go on two gorgeous CAS cards! Love the detail on that snowflake die!
ReplyDeleteIt's so wonderful to have you in our little LIM DT team Nonnie; welcome!! Your flair and finesse will be an incredible inspiration to all each week. Oh my goodness.....I am completely blown away by and swooning at the stunning Christmas card. It is CAS to the max, classy, elegant and really sophisticated. ( I might have to CASE that too - just love those colours as something different for Christmas). Bravo! Your first card shows such gorgeous blending and is really delicate and feminine. Well, I hope your week is going to be amazing xx
ReplyDeleteYay - so great to be back on the same DT as you, Nonni as I absolutely love your style and look forward to all of the inspiration you will bring to LIM! I love your first card - as a fellow Stamplorations fan - those daisies are perfect for this colour combo and the ombre hello looks great. Your snowflake card is CAS perfection too - so elegant. Have a fab weekend x

ReplyDeleteThey are lucky to have you Nonni! These cards are beautiful. I love yellow and grey, so I hope I will get the time and inspiration to join in.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cards, Nonni! Love the first one and how you made the flowers "grow" from the sentiment. And yes, you made the yellow and grey totally work as a Christmas card.
ReplyDeleteAnd definitely yes to being just as excited as you in joining the LIM team. So happy I can share this journey with you and Izzy.
Congratulations on making the LIM Design Team! That is indeed exciting news!
ReplyDeleteYou cards are both fabulous! The subtle shading on the first one is wonderful and I love the simplicity of the snowflake card! And yes, in my humble opinion silver is kind of a gray!
Two gorgeous cards Nonni!! Congrats on joining the Less Is More Design Team!! xx
ReplyDeleteYeah! I'm here ... running late this weekend due to a fun but busy day yesterday at the Happy Stampers Festival. I've been so excited to announce our new LIM teamies this week and you are all FAB-U-LOUS! Your cards here are just perfect and I'm smiling from ear to ear and swooning at both of these. The delicacy of your snowflake die and the super subtle card base is a CAS-tastic inspiration. Your masking skills and colouring are outstanding on the first one and I love your explanation of the sentiment being a 'vase' for the flowers. Incredible. Hope you enjoy your first week. A brilliant debut post and let's hop you receive lots of visitors. Hugs Sarah x
ReplyDeleteCongrats Nonni! Great to see your work as inspiration at LIM's! And a great start with this one! Hugs, Gerrina
ReplyDeletehas to be these ones...
DeleteFantastic news, so fun that you're on the LIM team and it's well deserved. You're off to a great start with these two wonderful CAS cards. Ive made a card, but using a stencil I'm not sure it's enough CAS anymore, I'll see if I can make a second one...
ReplyDeleteWildly cheering and rambunctiously happy dancing in hearing of your new DT role! How lucky the LIMettes are to have you join their team; how lucky WE are that you've done so! Talk about two dazzling delights to mark your debut! I LOVE your trio of daisies (one of my absolutely favourite STAMPlorations images) Hello! Striking! Your snowflake: incredibly pretty and yes, it works marvelously in a 'non-traditional' fashion! Your CAS style is outstanding; I'm learning a great deal from you in honing my own efforts at being 'truly' CAS!
ReplyDeleteHugs~c

ReplyDeleteCongratulations Nonni on joining the LIM Design Team - it's well deserved. Two super cards. I love how you have masked off the bottom of the flowers on the first card to be above the Hello. The snowflake card is very CAS and beautiful. I agree too that the LIM challenges helped me to find my style of card making.
