Hi friends!
I'm here with a last minute entry for Twofer Challenge #2: Hearts. I was afraid I'd miss the deadline but I did make it in the end, yay! There's even 5 more hours to go before the linky closes... Hmmm I could still start over if I wanted! :)
In my cards I've used a heart background stamp by CAS-ual Fridays and my occasions are Love and Christmas.
In my Love- card I've white heat embossed the heart background, die cut it with my currently favorite die by Lil'Inker and sponged ink to only to the top part of the image. I also splashed some water to the inked part for extra texture. The sentiment is heat embossed with white too.
A close up of the card:
The continuous heart pattern reminds me of retro wallpaper patterns, maybe from the 70's... And I though it might look fun stamped tone on tone. It looks alright IRL but was hard to capture with my camera, hopefully you can see the heart pattern a bit better in the detail photo below. For some reason the tone on tone look begun to look like Scandinavian Christmas print to me and therefore the second occasion turned into Christmas -my first idea was to make a Friendship or Sympathy card. In the end the second card is my take on "Scandinavian Retro Christmas". Lol! :) I used die cuts from W+9, a Finnish Christmas sentiment + white paint splatters. I seem to need to splatter all my cards now... It's a thing!
In addition to Twofer challenge, I'd like to enter my Love-card into:
Penny Black and More: Hearts and Love (and/or flowers, no flowers here!)
Simon Says Monday Challenge: Crunge It Up (I used distress inking + water splattering)
Calling All Sistahs: Photo
In addition to Twofer challenge, I'd like to enter my Christmas card into:
Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Make Your Own Background
ABC Christmas Challenge: Distress (I used paint splatters)
Thanks for popping by!
Nonni, these are so unique! Your Valentine card is so sweet with the blended curved panel, and white embossing. What a great idea!! And as far as your 'Scandinavian' Christmas card goes...well, it's lovely and warm and festive. I really like it!! Two super cards. Thank you for joining us at the Twofer Challenge! Bev
ReplyDeleteStunning cards, Nonni! Jo x
ReplyDeleteThese are adorable-I love the way you used this curve and that first card is a stunner and would be perfect for Calling All Sistahs challenge xx
ReplyDeleteI do love that favourite Lil'Inker die, Nonni ... it adds such gorgeous detail to your white embossed and partly sponged panel ... delicious! Cool and subtle background for your rich, rustic Christmas card ... and lovely layering of those festive die cuts! Delighted to have you playing along with us at Twofer! Hugs, Anita :)
ReplyDeleteThese are stunning, Nonni! I had to look very closely to see that you had used the same heart background stamp for both designs! Very subtle with the warm colors of your Scandinavian Christmas with the gorgeous splatters and pretty wintry bouquet! And you have enabled me to get that curved die, I'm afraid! I love the way it swoops the design in two and allowed you to do that perfect blending and splattering on the upper portion! Very dramatic and striking and I love it! Thank you so much for playing along in Twofer Card Challenge #2!! Hugs, Darnell
ReplyDeleteThese are stunning!! I love the subtle way you used the heart background on the second card. Very lovely cards!!

ReplyDeleteBoth gorgeous, Nonni. Really had me stumped as to where those hearts were on the second card. Love those colors. And on another note, do you grow peonies in Finland? Funny thing, two of mine ended up a different color than was on the label ;)
ReplyDeleteUpeat kortit, etenkin tykkään tuosta valkoisemmasta.
ReplyDeleteKiitos kun olet mukana Penny Black and more haasteessa;-))m
These turned out very different. It’s so inspiring to see the possibilities with the use of the same item, this hearts background is equally perfect for Christmas as for any other occcasion. I love the warm feel of the Christmas card and the layered elements added. As for your first card I love the effect of the colored part.
