New Challenge at Beautiful Blossoms Challenge Blog!

Hi friends!

It's time for a new challenge at Beautiful Blossoms Challenge Blog! Our one month long challenge is "Anything Floral Goes / Inspired by the Photo". The photo, this time a wonderful bouquet of roses, is below for you to admire!

In my card I used all Honey Bee Stamps products this time. The Sweetheart Roses die is one of my all time favorites and I've used it many many times already. The Chinoiserie 3d embossing folder I'm using for the first time and it is so beautiful! The window die and sentiment are all by Honey Bee as well.

I cut the rose petals from various colors of card stock and when the assembly was ready, they looked absolutely crazy and not cohesive or beautiful at all lol. I decided to try to fix the situation by giving the roses a wash of watercolor to "merge" all the card stocks together and that worked out beautifully! I was very happy with the results in both the orange and the red roses. Love the romantic feel of this card and all the detail in the die cuts and embossing folder!

I'd like to join:
A Cut Above: Anything Goes
Allsorts: Anything Goes from the Garden
Just Us Girls: Summer (at least in Finland, we only have roses in the garden during summer!)
Time Out Challenges: Summer + Water (in using water color for my roses)

Thank you for popping by and I hope to see you joining our monthly floral challenge at Beautiful Blossoms!

More Inspiration with My Monthly Hero for June

Hi friends!
I'm here to share two pretty clean and simple card makes -especially the first one came together super simply! My cards are created with the Hero Arts My Monthly Hero kits: the first one can be made with the basic version of the kit, the second one requires the sentiment die from the Superhero version (now sold out). Even is you missed out on the Superhero kit, don't hesitate to grab the smaller kit -it's filled with fun dies and stamps along with the Reflection stencil set for creating amazing looking water!

Card 1
Hello Summer

CAS card making doesn't get much faster than this! Yummy card stock colors from the kit, fun die cuts in an interesting arrangement and a simply stamped sentiment.

Card 2
Hello Sunshine

This card has a bit more mixed media feel but it was still very fast to create!

I've again used card stock from the kit but this time I gave the shapes quick shading with inks. For the sandy beach I also used card stock from the kit but gave it little extra texture by dabbing brown ink pads and splattering some diluted ink on it. I also added some interest to the stenciled water by tearing the edge to make it look like sea foam. The shadow part of the sentiment die is cut from vellum.

Thank you for popping by and I hope your summer is off to a good start!

My Monthly Hero for June is Here!

Happy June Everyone!

A new month means there's a new Hero Arts My Monthly available on Hero Arts website! You can choose between  My Monthly Hero kit for $45 ($88 value) or My Monthly Superhero kit for $75 ($155 value).  The kit is called Soak Up the Sun and it is perfect for summer card making! You get summer themed stamps and dies, including sentiments... And a fun stencil set for creating lively looking water. However, from one of my cards today, you'll see that you can actually create faux animal print with it too, lol!

I'll be using the Superhero kit in my post today. Let's have a look at the kit:

And now let's dive in to some fun summery cards!

I loved this fashionable lady so much that I had to make two cards with her right away! For the outfit of the fabulous blonde beauty I used the water stencil for making a sort of animal print looking fabric. What do you think? I love how both of these turned out. For all other die cutting I've used colored card stock (some of it came with the kit, love those teal ones!) and given them some extra dimension with shading them with inks. The sentiment stamps are included in the kit as well.

With my fabulous blonde animal print lady I'd like to join:

Time Out Challenges: Favorite Beverage (Coke!)

Just Us Girls: Stencils (used in her outfit)
Allsorts Challenge: Anything Goes
Cut It Up Challenges: Friendship (this goes to a fabulous friend who also happens to love Coke!)

Before I go, here's another card made with the kit -this time I created actual water with the water stencil! :) Love the summery pool scene and all the texture in the water. I used some clear paste as my top layer and while it was still a bit damp, I spritzed the panel with Hero Arts Shimmer Mist Spray  and I'm pleased it stuck in the paste and gave more texture and shine. I did spatter some white paint too, just to add even more movement! It might be worth clicking the photo larger so you can see all the details.

Again I used the card stock from the kit in addition to some marker card -the sun bathing lady is cut from marker card stock and colored with Copics. Sentiment is of course from the kit too. If I've intrigued you to have a closer look of the kit, here are the links again:
