Two Birthday Cards

Hi guys!
Here's two b-day cards I made this morning just for fun. I wanted to enter some challenges and really enjoyed just having fun with some of my favorite supplies. :)

My first card is inspired by Share Joy Challenge. I used the colors of the challenge and also used a Taylored Expressions embossing folder in creating my background. The inking of the bg makes it a bit hard to see how the embossing looks like but you can have the best impression of it in the top right corner. And actually: I'm using the same embossing folder in my second card and there you can get a very clear look of it! Anyway, I love the muted look of the distressed background I created for the first card. Inking, then "watering" the whole thing  and then dry embossing the dried, inked card, created a really interesting combination. The Stampendous flowers are colored with Copics and fussy cut. Coloring these was super fast but the cutting was a pain! :) A heat embossed sentiment on colored vellum finishes this card that has sort of a fall-look in my opinion. I'd also like to enter this card to Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge: Anything Goes.

The second card:

My second card is for the AAA Cards Game #65, The 2nd Big Birthday Bash. Congratulations AAA cards! What a great party you are throwing, wow! It also qualifies for the current Seize the Birthday (dimension).  In this card you can really see the embossed background well. I also used some die cut tags (same colored vellum than in my first card) where I heat embossed one of my favorite flower stamps with white powder. This turned out pretty good too although I didn't think much when making it, it kind of just came together! :)

Thanks for popping by and have a great weekend! Consider hitting the follow-button if you liked the look of these cards. ;)

TIME OUT Reminder

Hi friends!

I'm here to share my reminder card for our current TIME OUT Challenge:

"MayAll Your Weeds Be Wild Flowers"

Click here for all the challenge details!

Some of our DT members along with guest designer Julia are sharing some more inspiration in the blog too.

I used the same Penny Black flower stamp and stamping technique than in my previous TIME OUT card here. This was actually an old wood mounted stamp I hadn't used for years before last week but what I did was to attach it from the wooden block and then I was able to use it with my MISTI... And the stamp got a new life! :) I really like the soft look! I also used a STAMPlorations sentiment.

I'd like to enter:

Sparkly Dragonflies!

Hi friends!
I'm here with a quick post with a quick card I made. :) The cute dragonflies come from a Lawn Fawn set Critters of the Woods. I'm happy I found use for this tiny stamp -so often I neglect the small stamps from the sets I have and it's a shame! The bg is made with a Marianne Design stamp. Sentiment also by Lawn Fawn. I colored the dragonflies super simply and quickly with Copics and added Sakura Stardust pen and Wink of Stella for shine. Tiny rhinestones finish up this card. This was such a quick make that I'm not sure yet if I like or not but you tell me what you think! :) Thanks for popping by!

I'd like to enter the current Lawnscaping Challenge: Sparkle it up

New Challenge at Inkspirational!

Hi guys!
Here's my DT card for the new challenge at Inspirational, as you see from above it's a photo inspiration. If you are lost for ideas, do check out all the amazing DT samples from the challenge blog!

I went with the colors of the photo and wood for my inspiration. My purple is not this vibrant though, it's closer to pink... But you get the idea maybe. :) I also used a woodgrain embossing folder for the turquoise card panel. The card base is textured too so this card has many textures which I like. The feather die cuts I've received from someone as a gift.

Now that I look at the card on screen, it looks so weird with only one rhinestone... It looks like the other one has dropped! I think I must add one. :)

Hope you like and happy crafting!

New Challenge at TIME OUT!

Hi friends!
We have a new challenge for you at TIME OUT Challenges. The next fortnight we are inspired by words

'May All your weeds be wild flowers'

You can be inspired of the whole sentiment or just choose one or more words for your starting point. Our Guest Designer Julia and our regular DT members have wonderful samples for you, don't forget to check them out!

In my card I used a Penny Black flower stamp and a sentiment from a Woodware set. Is it even Woodware? Something like that anyway. :) After making my bg with blue DI:s I played with my MISTI: I stamped the flower several times with different colored ZIG water color markers and water as demonstrated in Virginia Lu's fantastic video tutorial here. Wonderful technique, I think this turned out lovely! My card base is pure white, don't know where the pinkish undertone creeped in to the photo, grrr. ;)

Before heading off I want to let you know we are sponsored by Clearly Besotted Stamps. They are offering a 15 pounds voucher to use in their store to our winner. Happy crafting!

I'm entering:

CASology stencil (my bg was stenciled through a die cut opening in a card)

Cuttlebug Mania: May flowers (I used a spellbinders die for making my bg stencil)

Another Butterfly Card!

Hi friends!
I created another butterfly card with the same set I used in Sandie's birthday card yesterday. I absolutely love how this turned out! I think this stamp and die set is going to be one of my favorites. My color inspiration comes from CAS on Sunday

I was also inspired by current Butterfly Challenge where we are asked to use something recycled. If you look at my third photo you can see the net-like fabric under the butterflies -that's my recycled item! It comes from an old table cloth project. I put turquoise colored card under the net so the texture could be seen even better. I partially colored the butterflies with Copics and dry embossed my card base for added interest.

I'm also entering a2zscrapbooking May Challenge: CAS. The stamp&die-set I'm using is actually from their store, I chose it after winning a challenge! Thank you so much for the awesome prize!

Hope you like and thanks for popping by.

Happy Birthday Sandie!

Hi everyone...
... And especially Sandie, who is turning 50 today! Woo hoo! Congratulations my dear friend! We are celebrating Sandie at TIME OUT with an extra challenge, do join us in the fun! You could win a 25$ gift voucher to Simon Says Stamp. All the details here

In my card I've used my all time favorite Spellbinders embossing folder. I lost it and was spending many lonely months without it... But now I have a new one! :) The butterflies (and sentiment) come from a Hero Arts stamp and die set that I'm trying here for the first time. My die cutting went a bit off but I still think this set is amazing and I hope Sandie won't mind my slight mistake in attaching the die! Sorry hon! It would be lovely with the butterfly right in the middle of the cut, grrr... I had it right in my first attempt but then I wanted to have the butterflies embossed with white and made another version.. And made a mistake with the die. Anyhow, what a great set and I hope Sandie will like her card! She is spending her birthday in the beautiful Budapest with her hubby and I hope she is enjoying her trip.

Now I hope you'll head on over to TIME OUT Challenges and join us in our special birthday challenge for Sandie. The theme is CAS With the Optional Twist of Purple. Happy crafting!

Also... Kylie is having a birthday linky party for Sandie too at her blog here. I'll of course link my card there and you should too! :)

Having Fun with MISTI and Textured Card!

Hi friends!
First: if you were following my old blog Korttikarkuri- Runaway Cards and have missed that I've moved... This is were I blog nowadays! Please click the followers button or follow by email or bloglovin if you'll want to see what I'm up to. :)

My crafty friend Anita from My Papercraft World sent me some textured card bases to try -she often uses this card with fantastic results and I was eager to try it out. To my luck my new MISTI stamping tool arrived about the same time and I was now able to

1) play with some of my solid stamps that don't stamp too well
+
2) use my old, not so juicy ink pads..
=
3) Still get perfect stamping results!

I'm quite in love with this MISTI. I pondered for a long time weather to get it or not -it is pricey- but right now I'm just so happy these old stamps could get inked with (old...) inks!

I'm playing along at Less Is More: Pastel Shades and CASology.: Tear (my leaves are tear-shaped)

Hope you like and thanks for popping by!

New Challenge at Inkspirational!

Hi everyone!
We have a new challenge for you at Inkspirational Challenges. It's a color challenge: Mint and Navy. Such a pretty combo!

I used a s magazine freebie feather die, a white heat embossed Finnish sentiment and navy + mint colored card for this one. This is so simple that I'm a little bit embarrassed! :) But it does look quite pretty too, the white card is textured, it doesn't show too well in the photo.

I'd like you to head on over to Inkspirational Challenge blog now for all the challenge details and DT inspiration.  Our guest designer this time is TaeEun whose style I absolutely admire. She is super talented at creating her own images and coloring them so artistically... Don't hesitate to visit her blog!

New Challenge at TIME OUT!

Hi everyone!
We are CASEing a wonderful designer called Kay Miller at TIME OUT. Please click here for all the challenge details + wonderful cards by our guest designer Marlena and DT members! A photo of Kay's card is above this text, under my card.

I CASEd the layout Kay used and also used a splatter stamp for the background like she did. My color palette is slightly different but I tried to go for a similar soft look as Kay's card has. I used a decorative Spellbinders die that looks lovely... But is a pain to use!! ... And some feather die cuts I've received as a gift. Small rhinestones finish up the card. Oh and I used a tiny bow die too... That has been a magazine freebie and I love it, I use it all the time! :) Hope you like my card and do join us at TIME OUT! Happy crafting!

Using Designer Paper CAS Style

Hi friends!
The first card of this post is for for the latest Less Is More Challenge: Designer paper. My second card has designer paper too but it isn't so very less is more... I do however hope it will qualify for CAS Mix Up May Challenge! I used spray mists as my third element.

In the first card I cut a strip of brown patterned paper and heat embossed Chocolate Baroque flowers on it with white powder. The card base is dry embossed for added interest. A Finnish sentiment finishes up the card.

The second card features flower and leaf stamps by My Favorite Things + a Simon Says Stamp sentiment. The background is stamped with small Prima background stamps and also misted with green ink mists. Some drops and a punched leaf to finish it up. I'll call this collage CAS. ;)

Hope you like, thanks for popping by!

Inky Butterflies

Hi friends!
I've just had a super fun weekend: Marina from My Perfect Life has been visiting me here in Finland and we had such lovely time! Yesterday evening (and night...) we got quite productive and made several cards together. This is the first out of the 3 cards I made in one evening, I'll post the 2 other cards tomorrow.

For this card I first created two "ink smooshed" backgrounds with inks, plastic sheet and water. I dry embossed the other bg to be my card base and then stamped some Sizzix butterflies to the other bg and die cut them out. The Simon Says Stamp sentiment was also stamped and added to the card front.  This turned out very pretty in the end but me and Marina had a good giggle about my other background (the one where I ended up stamping the butterflies) because the red ink splashes looked like blood... So we called the butterflies "the massacre butterflies". :) Luckily the finished card looks nothing like those images we had in our mind!

I'll enter a new to me challenge, Butterfly Challenge. The current theme is to add texture and my dry embossing and the ink splashes work perfectly for the challenge, yay!

This is only my second post for this new blog of mine... If you are coming from my old blog and haven't yet clicked the follower button, please do! :) Happy crafting, everyone!
