Card Kit Swap #2 Seaside Stories

Hi friends!
Maybe you remember my first card kit swap post from 15th of June? My 2nd post was due 15th of July which I've been thinking is Saturday this week... So that's why I'm posting today and my card kit swap friends Pia and Marina already posted yesterday... Which was 15th for real. Oooops. Better late than never I guess. Sorry Pia and Marina! I hope you'll go and have a look a their cards in their blogs.

The "Seaside Stories"-kit was sent by Marina and it contained wonderful maritime-themed patterned papers, summery stamped images and fun die cuts. There was also some buttons and twine as accessories. Well you all know how bad I am at adding bits and pieces to my cards but I did manage to use the twine! :) Marina knew I had wanted to try storybook dies so I was super happy she made those with her Silhouette. I have one left over from the kit and I'm sure I'll make a fun story with that using some of my critter stamps -this time I wanted to stick with crafty stash from the kit. We have agreed one can use own supplies as much as she wants but for me it's fun to play with limited stash. Less options, easier choices! :)

Card 1) Wheel-die cuts
I colored the die cuts with Copics, added red card and Wink of Stella to the centers of the dies and stamped a sentiment from CASual Fridays to the white, textured panel. I used red card base. LOVE how this turned out! I'd like to enter this card to Share Joy Challenge: Clean and Simple

Card 2) Storybook-die, patterned paper + swimmer lady
I colored the storybook-frame and the swimmer lady with Copics and used the storybook-die in a very simple way. I added Wink of Stella and white gel pen to embellish the images.

Card 3) Patterned paper + anchor die cuts
I colored the anchor die cuts with Copics and added red card + Wink of Stella in the same way that in the wheel die cuts. The sentiment is by Simon Says Stamp. This turned out fun too I think!

Card 4) Stamped, die cut sailboat + twine
My final card is another CAS card. The sailboat is colored in with Copics and I used white gel pen for accenting. I used a curved SSS die for the blue panel. The sentiment is by Avocado Arts. And twine! Yay, I used embellies! :)

Thanks for popping by and thank you Marina for this amazing kit.

  1. Worth waiting for ….these are fabulous cards!
Card 1 – I love the simplicity of this – I would never have thought of using the ship’s wheels like this and the grey and red look stunning.
Card 2 – Out of all the cards the three of us did this kit, I think this one and one of my are the most similar. Your colouring on the woman is amazing.
Card 3- Both you and Pia did a much better use of the patterned paper than I did! I love this design with the sticky out bits.
Card 4 – Love the effect of the rolling waves that you’ve carried through the whole card. The twine looks great.
Couldn’t you have managed a button?!? Not one of us used any of the blue buttons. Maybe we should have an extra challenge to use up the leftover embellishments from the kits! (I still have your sequins!)

  5. I love the sailboat card and how the sentiment is placed to fit the lines of the waves, beautiful soft colors too. I think you've also done a fab job coloring the wheels and anchors and you've chosen nice, clean layouts. The storybook layout is fantastic, great use of that piece of DP that I loved so much. Can't wait to see what you'll make using my kit.
